HEART UK Response To Report That Cholesterol Can Affect Memory Loss
In response to a recent study on cholesterol levels by the American Heart Association, which found that restricting blood flow to the brain can potentially cause memory loss, HEART UK - the Cholesterol Charity Trustee Dr Dermot Neely commented:

"As LDL is calculated from other measures it remains unclear whether this is a direct effect or a reflection of fluctuations of other blood factors, which are also known to affect blood flow.
"It will be important to look at other populations to see if the findings are consistent and to gain a better understanding of the mechanisms before recommending any changes in diet or lifestyle advice."
