Pirates and Scallywags! Another festival is on the horizon

MOUNT DORA, Fla. - Aug. 11, 2016 - PRLog -- The "Festival City" celebrates the expansion of the Mount Dora Seafood Festival on August 27 & 28, 2016 in Evans Park with the addition of a "Pirate Village" and a 2nd kid zone in the adjacent waterfront area known as Simpson's Cove.

The inaugural year in 2015 proved to be overwhelmingly successful. Event Coordinator Janet Gamache says, "It's well known that Mount Dora knows how to do events 'Right' and so it is a natural evolution for us to respond in a way to make the visitor experience better than it was the year before."


Gamache says, "Besides expanding the event footprint so that visitors have more area to move around, there will be twice as many food vendors, 2 free bounce houses and shuttles will be provided from Mount Dora Christian Academy (Sat only) and Mount Dora High School (Sat and Sun). We will also partner with the Lakeside Inn and include a stage of free music there along with the popular Aqua Bubbles on shore where kids can 'walk on water' in large plastic bubbles for a small fee."

Free music will be offered on the main stage in Evans Park on both days. Saturday evening will feature The Shindigs with their amazing tribute to The Beach Boys and headliner The Original Wailers featuring Al Anderson who played with Bob Marley in his original band. The concert is sponsored by Plaza Cadillac. The Saturday evening concert is free but seats can be purchased in a reserved section at http://www.mountdoralive.com or by calling (407)603-9215.

The Festival weekend will kick off with a Pirate Wine Walk on Friday, Aug 26 at Norm's Palette where a $15 ticket will get you wine tastings at different local shops. Wearing pirate garb will get you an extra raffle ticket to be entered to win prizes at the conclusion of the walk.

There will also be a Landlubber Restaurant Tour on Saturday, Aug 27. The self-guided tour will introduce you to downtown restaurants where you will get a sample of seafood from their menu and a specialty drink in a commemorative cup. Tickets are $38. The tour is open 11AM-5PM and is paced by you.

The Mount Dora Seafood Festival was created by Visit Mount Dora, Inc to bring awareness to their Sunday Village Market and as an economic boost by bringing "feet on the street" to the town which is typically slow during the summer months.
