This is the best boot patch for rubber boots - check it out!

FREELAND, Wash. - July 1, 2016 - PRLog -- On our farm, we wear rubber boots two or three seasons of the year. These are not those $20 overshoe boots we wore as a kid. These rubber boots sell for $90-$150 a pair. When they develop a crack with plenty of tread left, and I find myself with wet socks to start the day, it's a problem.

I tried boot patch tapes, glues, an expensive air-cure silicone from England... In each case, either the adhesion with the boot failed, or the patch material itself cracked.

Then I remembered a polyurethane sealant we used on a submersed water sealing application where I used to work. This particular polyurethane (PU) gets stronger in contact with water over time, unlike the silicones. I purchased a 10 oz caulking tube of the stuff and tried it.

Before I say more, I should point out that there is a trick to getting excellent adhesion between the PU and your boot. And, no, the trick isn't cleaning and abrading the surface of the boot, although that is important.
