SAN DIEGO - June 17, 2016 - PRLog -- Costco to Host Book Signing for San Diego Police: Case Files

Steve Willard and Ed LaValle will be available to sign copies of the local history book

A Pacific Coast metropolis famous for beautiful beaches and perfect weather and an American municipality since 1850, San Diego is America's eighth-largest city. Known as America's "Finest City," it contains a wealth of history, evolutionary as well as revolutionary, in its crime files. Among those are the founder of the California wine industry, Judge Roy Bean, a black officer before the Emancipation Proclamation, a 19th-century Native American police chief and women who had the power to arrest before they had the right to vote. Major incidents include massive floods, civil unrest, wildfires, and some of the largest police gun battles in history. San Diego also witnessed mass murder, America's first major school shooting, the worst aviation disaster in American history, and the deadliest streets, per capita, to police. How the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) handled it all became text book for many other police agencies.

Authors Steve Willard and Ed LaValle share almost 50 years of police experience between them. The story of how the original group of 12 brave men with no formal training has evolved into what is now one of America's best law enforcement agencies is a fascinating journey through some of San Diego's greatest triumphs and tragedies.

About the Authors:

A writer of several SDPD books, Willard serves as vice president of the San Diego Police Historical Association which supplied the vintage images for the captivating visuals contained within this book. LaValle serves as the association's executive commissioner and has authored numerous published articles of association activities.
