OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - June 7, 2016 - PRLog -- Casey Connealy and Chris Gaughan, acclaimed Overland Park estate planning and elder law attorneys, participated in one of the nation's premier legal education conferences in Kansas City, MO from May 11 through May 16. Hosted by the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys, the 23rd annual Spring Summit included over 100 estate planning law firms from around the country that met specific qualifications for exclusive membership with the American Academy.

The American Academy helps its Member attorneys enhance the way they practice law. At bi-annual conferences, attorneys receive cutting-edge legal education including important updates in estate, tax, and business planning laws. They also learn the latest in management and practice building strategies. "This Spring Summit was special because we focused on many practice-changing topics and opportunities as well as the importance of how our health ties directly into the vitality that we bring to our practices," said Sanford M. Fisch, CEO and co-founder of the American Academy.

This conference focused on building relationships with clients.  The Academy's co-founders kicked off the events on Thursday with The Client Journey - From Transaction to Relationship to Community. Casey Connealy and Chris Gaughan also received client-focused legal training and new research at sessions such as Hospice & Palliative Care as well as Ethical Issues Arising in Concurrent Representation of Spouses and Other Family Members. Additionally, the summit featured Jeff Lanza, retired FBI agent, who spoke on Hoodlums to Hackers:  How Criminals Get Our Information and What We Can Do to Stop Them.

This event included demonstrations of the Academy's software program that streamlines estate plan creation and funding processes with a workflow focused on practice management and accounting systems.

Casey Connealy and Chris Gaughan said, "We believe every family in Overland Park should have an estate plan in place to secure their assets and legacy for future generations. The American Academy and these events provide an encompassing approach in its education, systems and resources which help us build relationships with our clients and make a difference in our community."

Gaughan & Connealy has devoted its practice to estate planning and elder law matters for more than five and has been a Member of the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys since 2012. Gaughan & Connealy is one of only four firms in Kansas to be admitted to Academy Membership.
