BOYDTON, Va. - May 2, 2016 - PRLog -- On May 3, 2016, Humanity Road will join nonprofit organizations and community foundations across the country for Give Local America - a 24-hour nationwide crowdfunding event that promotes local communities to invest in and celebrates the work of local nonprofit organizations.
"We're proud to be located right here in the heart of Mecklenburg County. There is no greater place to have our headquarters than here in Boydton," said Chris Thompson, President and Co-Founder of Humanity Road.
"I invite each of you to take a moment on May 3 and say thank you to those in our communities who make a difference. Please reach out and express your support to nonprofits that are helping in our communities."
In 2015, through a partnership with over 9,000 local nonprofits, Give Local America raised more than $68 million for local communities. In 2016, Give Local America hopes to engage even more nonprofit organizations and expand its fundraising efforts to reach $100 million in donations.
This year, Humanity Road has launched a new way to give. Through text-to-donate, folks can donate from their mobile phone this year. You can text the word "HUMANITY" to 41444 to make a pledge to support us.
"We truly believe that every donation, no matter how large or small, makes a difference in our community," said Thompson. "I am excited that Mecklenburg County will participate in Give Local America 2016 to support the people and organizations who work tirelessly and selflessly to keep our community vital and strong."
