Sonoma Valley Winemaker Receives 62nd 90+ Point Wine Review Since 2007 Flagship Vintage

En Garde Winery Proprietor and Winemaker, Csaba Szakal, Can't Make a Bad Wine

SONOMA, Calif. - May 2, 2016 - PRLog -- En Garde Winery announced today that since their flagship 2007 vintage they have received 62 reviews of 90+ points. In addition to these point-rated wines, they have also received 5 double gold medals, 31 gold medals, 4 best micro winery awards from the California State Fair Wine Competition and 1st place in the Affairs of the Vine Cabernet Shootout 2 years in a row.

En Garde Winery Proprietor and Winemaker, Csaba Szakal, has had the "Midas touch" from the beginning with his first commercial wine, 2007 Diamond Mountain Napa Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, receiving Double Gold and 95 points from the San Francisco International Wine Competition andBest in Show and 94 points from the Affairs of the Vine Cabernet Shootout.

In March of 2016, Szakal was informed of his 62nd, and highest to date, over 90 point review. Reporter and wine connoisseur Robert Whitley of winereviewonline.com and whitleyonwine.com (http://www.whitleyonwine.com/) and producer of four major wine competitions gave En Garde's 2012 Le Bijou du Roi Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 96 points and said, "Diamond Mountain has long been one of the most distinctive sub-regions of the Napa Valley for cabernet sauvignon, making complex cabs that will improve with age over multiple decades. The En Garde Le Bijou du Roi is an example of the genre. This vintage exhibits lovely red fruits and spice, with a floral background note and hints of vanilla and darker fruits on the palate."

The famed wine reviewer Robert Parker Jr. of The Wine Advocate and erobertparker.com (https://www.erobertparker.com/entrance.aspx) said En Garde's 2012 Le Bijou du Roi Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is "an impressive bottling. The wine has a dense ruby/purple color, loads of cedar, red and blackcurrant fruit, licorice and a style that's somewhat reminiscent of a very ripe St. Emilion. This beauty is nicely textured, lush, seductive and complex." Parker gave the 2012 wine 92 points and then gave the 2013 Le Bijou du Roi Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 92-94 points, saying, "The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Le Bijou du Roi is a slightly more structured, denser, more concentrated version of the 2012. The wine shows loads of cedar wood, crème de cassis, black cherry and a fragrant complexity that seems something this winery obtains routinely."

"Growing up in my family's vineyards in Hungary and learning the secrets of winemaking from my father and grandfather are the inspirations I use today," said Szakal. "My successes have made me proud that I'm able to continue my family's lineage and hopeful that my young son, Adam, will want to continue the tradition."
