Creator of Teaopia Leads New Ecommerce Venture

CONCORD, Ontario - April 27, 2016 - PRLog -- David Bellisario, CitizenTea's founder, president and resident tea enthusiast is back in the tea business with his latest venture, CitizenTea, an online teashop that specializes in loose-leaf tea and accessories.

In 2005 David founded Teaopia, Canada's first premium loose-leaf tea company that quickly grew into a chain of 50 stores across the country. After selling his company in 2012, David quickly realized that he never lost his passion for high quality tea and retail.  As the years passed, David realized that the tea industry hadn't changed much over the past 10 years, but that the consumer had evolved into a more sophisticated and knowledgeable tea drinker.  Inspired by this, David is returning to the tea world to transform the industry through his e-commerce company, CitizenTea. His focus will be on delivering premium loose-leaf tea and a better shopping experience than what other online and traditional brick and mortar stores are offering.  The online store will feature auto-ship functions for the returning customer, and instructional videos and product tutorials for beginners.

Most importantly, however, is the tea itself.  CitizenTea teas are grown in the most diverse regions of the world. David explains "tea not only takes on the characteristics of the soil, water and fragrance of its surroundings but also, the people who work the land. This is why we source our tea exclusively from gardens where not only is nature pristine, but the people who work the gardens are treated with fairness and respect".  CitizenTea's flavoured teas are crafted with the principle of keeping the nuance of the tea, while adding subtle flavouring, fruits, herbs and spices.
