Mr. McFunny Kickstarts Kids' Laughter and Learning

ASHLAND, Ore. - April 27, 2016 - PRLog -- With the NBA playoffs in full swing, sports analyst, Maximillian McFunny, is here to answer crucial basketball questions. For example:

Q.  Why did the coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers take away his players' credit cards?

This is the kind of little-known basketball knowledge that Mr. McFunny will impart in his forthcoming book, Mr. McFunny's Basketball Jokes for Kids, one in a series of six sports joke books created by Oregon author, Richard Seidman, aimed at six to ten-year-olds.

Seidman is launching a Kickstarter campaign on April 27th to help him publish the first four McFunny books, featuring soccer, basketball, baseball, and Summer Olympics jokes.  Future editions will highlight football and Winter Olympics jokes. "When I was growing up," says Seidman, "telling jokes, playing games and sports, and reading were the things I loved the most, and they're still the main things I enjoy today! I love that Mr. McFunny combines these three elements - jokes, sports, and reading - into books that can help children become better readers and thinkers while amusing them (and their parents and teachers). I've had a lot of fun creating and compiling these jokes and working with Curt Evans to create funny pictures. I can't wait to share the books with the world."

The Kickstarter drive will run from April 27 through May 26. Backers of the project can receive a variety of rewards in exchange for their support, including e-books, print books, and a school visit by Mr. McFunny himself.

In addition to creating the Mr. McFunny books, Richard Seidman is the author of World Cup Mouse and several screenplays for family films.  He also wrote a non-fiction book for grown-ups, A New Oracle of Kabbalah: Mystical Teachings of the Hebrew Letters.  A former teacher and softball and soccer coach, he is the founder and former executive director of Friends of Trees in Portland, Oregon, now in its 27th year of planting trees.
