Digital Execution Agency Receives 2016 Communicator Award

NYACK, N.Y. - April 27, 2016 - PRLog -- Liqui-Site announced today that it has been recognized with a 2016 Communicator Award for its work on the Killing Season Chicago website.

The Communicator Awards-the leading international awards program honoring creative excellence for communication professionals-are judged and overseen by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), a 600+ member organization of leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media.  Current AIVA membership represents a "Who's Who" of acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms including:  AirType Studio, Condè Nast, Disney, Keller Crescent, Lockheed Martin, Monster.com, MTV, rabble+rouser, Time Inc., Tribal DDB, Yahoo!, and many others.

Killing Season Chicago is a data-driven art installation by Chicago-based artist, Krista Wortendyke that explores the relationship between climate and violence. With the help of grants from the Puffin Foundation and Columbia College, the website presents photographs from the 172 homicide sites in Chicago from Memorial Day to Labor Day in 2010. Cody Bailey-Wickins, Front End Developer at Liqui-Site, produced a custom, responsive website with an automated, horizontal scroll that mimics walking along the installation-the same way one would interact with it in-person. The website also features an interactive homicide map to pinpoint each location on Google maps, with the ability to view information about the deceased.
