Japan is the Main News in Asian Trading on Monday 25^th April 2016

The Japanese economy is the main focus today ahead of its 2-day central bank meeting which starts tomorrow.

The Japanese Nikkei 225 was down again today as investors anticipated the BOJ's next moved to be announced on Wednesday. The bank is expected to keep its policy the same however some commentators have said that there could be a move to apply negative rates to its financial institutional lending program, a report on the Bank of Japan's plans is expected to be released later this year and this is probably when we will actually see a move.

Off the back of last week's trouncing of Mitsubishi, the Nikkei could do without further profit taking. The index was down ¾ of a percent after lunch.

Australian markets are closed for Anzacs Day. The AUD/USD gained some ground in the morning seeing 0.7720 in afternoon trading. Australian banks and mining stocks have been hit hard recently yet the recent positive news out of China and a reprieve in commodity prices have seen the ASX recover some of the ground it had given up.

Asian markets are expected to remain cautious ahead of both the Bank of Japans and the Federal Reserve's announcements, both due later on Wednesday afternoon.
