Follow on Google News | West Vancouver Tree Bylaw Under DiscussionThe Municipality is trying to determine whether to implement a tree bylaw and will possibly impose an Interim Bylaw
However, in the meantime, they are considering implementing an Interim Bylaw that would protect identified trees. Any tree over 75 cm in diameter or Arubuts & Garry Oak over 20 cm in diameter measured 1.4m from the ground will be protected and residents will not be allowed to limb, top or cut them down. Permits will not be issued for those wishing to improve their view by taking trees out. Fines up to $1000 could be issued to those who do not comply. The discussion of an Interim Tree Bylaw will occur on April 18th, 2016 during the regular Council meeting. Anyone is welcome to attend and share their views. Council will discuss further in a closed meeting on April 20thto determine whether or not to implement this Interim Bylaw.
