| Chef Anselmo Ramirez's Ixcateco Grill Unveils New Spring MenuBy: Ixcateco Grill A new appetizer, Albondigas a La Mancha, beef meatballs served in mole mancha manteles over pineapple purée, garnished with crispy chorizo and accompanied with a Three Sisters Garden Pea Shoot Salad with orange pineapple dressing ($10) will join favorites such as the Ensalada de Betabel, with roasted beets, jicama, watercress, goat cheese, and candy pecans tossed in a pasilla orange dressing ($7); and Ixcateco's famous Guacamole and Chips ($6) New entrées for spring include the vegetarian Chiles Rellenos, roasted poblano peppers stuffed with sautéed vegetables, Oaxacan cheese, and served in tesmole($14.50); Two dishes that have become signature offerings menu remain on the new menu: Pollo En Mole Negro, roasted chicken served in black mole, accompanied by chunky garlic mashed potatoes and Three Sisters Garden micro greens ($16) and Carne Asada, adobo marinated wood grilled skirt steak, served with a tomato molcajete sauce, black beans and guacamole ($18.00). Ixcateco Grill also continues to offer a weekend brunch that spices up typical American brunch offerings. "Our goal at brunch is to introduce to our guests to the types of food prepared in Mexico during the daytime hours," says Ramirez. The signature brunch dish has become the Huevos Divorciados, a two-part dish featuring, on one side of the plate, a fried egg served on a crispy tortilla with black beans covered in Molcajete sauce and garnished with chorizo and queso ranchero and, on the other side of the plate, a poached egg served on top of a masa boat with mashed potatoes covered in salsa loca garnished with crispy ham, sour cream and queso rancheros ($12). About Ixcateco Grill Ixcateco Grill is an intimate casual Mexican restaurant featuring authentically prepared dishes from the central and southwestern regions of Mexico, by chef/owner Anselmo Ramirez. BYO is encouraged. The restaurant is located at 3402 W. Montrose in Chicago's Albany Park neighborhood. Dinner is served from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
