ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - April 10, 2016 - PRLog -- Ken Mattison, CEO for Florida Hospital Flagler, has been appointed CEO of Florida Hospital New Smyrna. He will serve in a dual role until May 1, 2016, when Ronald Jimenez, MD, becomes CEO for Florida Hospital Flagler.

"Adventist Health System is blessed to have servant leaders like Ken and Ron ready and poised to carry our unique mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ to these communities," said Don Jernigan, president/CEO of Adventist Health System. "They prioritize the best interests of the community by looking for ways to improve services and delivery of care."

Mattison has served as president/CEO of Florida Hospital Flagler since 2013. Under his leadership, the campus experienced significant growth, most recently breaking ground on a $15 million construction project to add 32 beds, and announcing plans for another $4.5 million project to expand the cancer center and add a second linear accelerator for radiation oncology treatments.

Mattison's past experience also includes serving for 16 years as president/CEO of Florida Hospital Waterman, six years as president/CEO of Jellico Community Hospital, and six years as vice president and chief operating officer at Park Ridge Health. In addition, he has held various roles in finance at Gordon Hospital, Scott Memorial Hospital, and Castle Memorial Medical Center.

Dr. Jimenez currently serves as chief medical officer for Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, a role he has held since 2009. As CMO, Jimenez established a clinically integrated network, was responsible for quality and patient safety, and oversaw performance improvement, utilization review and medical staff departments.

Prior to joining Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, Dr. Jimenez was the vice president of medical affairs for what was then called Park Ridge Hospital and the Appalachian Region of Adventist Health System from 2006-2009, director of medical affairs from 2005-2006, and chief of obstetrics and gynecology from 2001-2004. From 1993-2001, Jimenez was a staff physician at Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida.

"Both of these leaders have robust careers focusing on patient care, strategic growth planning and fostering relationships with employees and community members," said Rob Fulbright, president/CEO of Adventist Health System's East Florida Region. "Our executive team is strong and ready to advance health care delivery in this region using the latest innovation combined with high-touch compassion."

Formerly called Bert Fish Medical Center, the 112-bed Florida Hospital New Smyrna joined Adventist Health System on April 1, 2016. Current CEO Steve Harrell will become the chief operating officer for the facility.
