AUSTIN, Texas - April 9, 2016 - PRLog -- Anjan Contractor, the 3D printing expert best known for winning an award from NASA for 3D-printing pizza fit for deep-space missions has launched BeeHex, Inc. to commercialize 3D printing technology.

BeeHex, Inc. helps realize Contractor's vision for "a 3D printer in every kitchen." Going into 2016 the company recruited top marketing and engineering talent to land exclusive and international exposure at SplashThat's annual off-SXSW dinner party, at SXSW interactive's exhibition floor and at Plug & Play's Demo Day in Sunnyvale, California, among others. Steve Meyer, on the BeeHex board of advisors says that BeeHex's leadership team is the one to beat. "I was attracted to the technology but convinced by the team," says Meyer. "BeeHex's leadership team is uniquely qualified to advance 3D printing technology in ways that could dramatically change the food service, preparation and delivery markets. They have developed a technology and are executing a plan that is both innovative and has great potential."

Anjan Contractor is among the top 3D-printing engineers," says Jordan French, biomedical engineer and founding CMO at BeeHex. French added: "His wealth of 3D printing experience and the speed at which he prototypes designs that make chocolate confectioneries to pizza is unparalleled." In 2013 Contractor won a NASA SBIR grant to design and prototype a 3D printer that could safely and cleanly print pizza that could be deployed on deep-space missions, for example to Mars. "As recently popularized in the Ridley Scott film, The Martian, some deep-space missions can last years. NASA's alternative solutions--including vitamin-enriched food pills--were simply unappetizing or too easily degradable.

BeeHex's 3D food printing has broad applications that range from fast-food service food production to meeting dietary restrictions. BeeHex's 3D printing technology tightly controls the volume and layering of food it creates. The inputs can be controlled to accommodate Celiac's disease or mineral deficiencies. In addition, 3D printing can be deployed to alleviate food shortages, particularly following a natural disaster or humanitarian event. "The prospect of rapid 3D printing, starting with durable inputs that can be cleanly and neatly dropped anywhere in the world to 3D print nutritious and appealing foods is very real," says French.

BeeHex is in the process of raising its seed round of funding to develop a pre-production prototype in 2016.

ABOUT BEEHEX, INC.

BeeHex, Inc. (http://www.beehex.com/), is the premier 3D food-printing company, led by tech celebrity Anjan Contractor. BeeHex's patent-pending technology uses pneumatic systems to tightly control the deposit of 3D materials to form complex edibles and biomedical materials. The company's 3D printer technology was inspired by the 3D printer that 3D printed pizza fit for NASA's deep space missions and has been compared to the equivalent of a "Star Trek replicator."

ABOUT ANJAN CONTRACTOR

Anjan Contractor is the CEO and co-founder of BeeHex, Inc. (http://www.beehex.com/), the leading 3D printing company. He developed multiple prototypes of 3D printers throughout the late 2000s to print edible food, clothing, and complex shapes. Contractor is widely known for winning a NASA grant for building a 3D printer that successfully printed edible pizza for astronauts. He also advocates for the maker community and Engineers Without Borders. Contractor is a frequent speaker at technology events and is regularly consulted by media for his expertise in 3D printing technology.
