Hiscano is a local artist and has been creating photographs of the American landscape for over thirty years. His work has appeared in The New York Times, Outdoor Photographer, Nature's Best, Nature Conservancy Magazine and Photographic Magazine, and has been featured prominently in exhibitions, books, posters, calendars, websites, and annual reports in the US, Europe and Asia. The Center is also offering a series of professional development workshops for artists on four Thursday nights in April with instructor Wes Sherman. The series includes How to Photograph Your Art, How to Market Yourself on Social Media, How to Write Your Artist Statement, and Managing your Art. Spring workshops provide unique one-day opportunities for local artists. "Photoshop Basics" with Francesca Picone is a new workshop offered for adults. This class will familiarize students with the image editing tools of the software and will include the rubber-stamp tool, how to use layers, clipping paths, cropping and resizing images, etc. The Center's unique curriculum of children's art classes allows young artists to enroll in either overview classes that explore a broad range of media and techniques, or in-depth classes designed to deepen and develop skills in a single medium. In May, The Center is offering a "Multi-Media Workshop" for teens with instructor Oscar Beck. Students will build their own fantasy world within a shadowbox by creating an imaginary being and placing it within an environment built from found objects.
