| ![]() Getting it right - the importance of trainingBy: Degafloor Ltd Despite all this good work, there remains a general lack of product specific training and skills. Far too often products are being installed by 'industry experts' who have general NVQ training and relevant memberships but little, if any, experience with a specific product. To overcome this issue, Degafloor runs a very tightly controlled approved installer scheme. All potential new installation partners are pre-vetted to ensure they are financially sound, before being invited in to attend product specific training. Training MUST be completed before any products are ever supplied which ensures quality and protects end clients from potential issues. Existing partners are welcome to attend refresher training at any stage and must attend training before using any new products that get added to our range. Every year we update and distribute detailed installation guidance and instructions in the form of installation manuals for our flooring and car Park & Highways ranges. These manuals are an essential part of the overall training and skills delivery programme we adopt. To support our training programme, we also supply specialist tools to simplify installation, improve quality and reduce operative strain. Over the last 5 years alone, this has greatly improved productivity and enhanced operative welfare. Our approved installer network consists of methyl methacrylate resin specialists who use our products day in, day out. This regular use leads to familiarity and reinforcement of best practice. I am sure that many will have witnessed installations where a lack of familiarity has delivered less than desirable results. Degafloor is often questioned why we have so few approved installers, and the answer is simple - to protect the end customer by ensuring our products are only supplied to highly trained installers who have relevant and current experience, and utilise best practice. If you are considering a resin flooring installation, we would urge you to request evidence that the installer has attended training organised by the product manufacturer. This is the best way to ensure the results you achieve meet your expectations. End
