Shutts & Bowen's Marc Sarnoff appointed to FIU Board of Trustees

MIAMI - March 29, 2016 - PRLog -- Governor Rick Scott has recently appointed Marc Sarnoff, a partner in Shutts & Bowen's Government Law and Land Use Practice Group, to the Florida International University Board of Trustees.

"I am honored to have been chosen to serve on the FIU Board of Trustees," Sarnoff said. "FIU is an anchor institution in our community and I look forward to working with my fellow trustees to assist President Rosenberg's team in making FIU better every day and expanding it for the benefit of all of South Florida."

The Florida International University Board of Trustees is composed of 13 members: five appointed by the state Board of Governors; six appointed by Florida's governor; and student and faculty representation by the University's Faculty Senate chair and student government president. The Board is responsible for developing cost-effective policies, implementing and maintaining high-quality education programs consistent with the University's mission, conducting performance evaluations, and assuring that the University meets state policy, budgeting, and education standards.

Sarnoff is a former Commissioner for District 2 of the City of Miami, and has held the position of chairman and vice chair for the City of Miami Commission. He was the Chairman of the Downtown Development Authority, Chairman of the Omni Community Redevelopment Agency, Chairman of the Coconut Grove Business Improvement District, as well as the Chairman of the Community Redevelopment Authority. In 2015, Governor Rick Scott appointed him to the Metropolitan Planning Organization, which manages the Florida Transportation Budget.
