In "Staying Vigilant," superheroes have taken to the streets, exacting vigilante justice. But, in the real world, putting on costumes, leveling city blocks, and beating up the "bad guys" is not only illegal, it's crazy. A 12-Step Program is created to teach superheroes how to be normal, productive members of society. Showrunner Mikel-Jon West states, "I love comic books and superhero movies. But, if you think about it, the whole concept is pretty crazy. I wanted to do a series that pays homage, but also pokes a little fun at the superhero genre." After winning multiple awards at the 48 Hour Film Project in Albuquerque, Mega Ultra Studios, Byrdman Group, and M-Day Films led by producers Mikel-Jon West, Fawn Brooks, Steven Ray Byrd, Marika Day, and Jetto Dorsainville joined forces and submitted a trailer for Staying Vigilant to the Shoot Santa Fe Pilot Project aimed at funding a potential television pilot. The trailer was chosen in the top five but did not win the competition, leaving the project without funding or studio backing. Rather than filming a television pilot to shop around, the team saw the potential to create an entire web-series in the same vein as "The Guild," or "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog." A crowdfunding campaign has been launched with IndieGogo. With perks such as producer credits, walk-on roles, signed posters, and more, fans of the genre and media producers alike can join in creating a high quality, grassroots web-series with the potential to be a cult classic.
