COUNTRYSIDE, Ill. - March 14, 2016 - PRLog -- What do you do to cope with your spring allergies?  Do you keep your windows and doors closed and stay indoors?  Have you ever tried using steam from a shower or a vaporizer to help clear your breathing passages?  Or, have you tried eating apples, pineapple, red wine vinegar, onions or teaspoon of honey?  These are a few home remedies that may help relieve your spring allergies symptoms.

Spring allergies begin in February and last until the early summer. A rainy spring can lead to an increase in mold, causing symptoms to last well into the fall.

Allergy Treatment

Know what triggers your allergies. You may think you know that pollen or mold is causing your suffering, but other substances may be involved as well. Did you know that more than two-thirds of spring allergy sufferers actually have year-round symptoms?

Relieving sneezing or itchy, watery eyes could be as simple as taking over-the-counter medicine, lozenges or trying a nasal rinse.  If your spring allergies are more severe, a nose spray or antihistamine eye drops prescribed by a physician may be the answer to alleviating your allergy symptoms.

Sinus Infection - Acute sinusitis and Chronic sinusitis

A bad cold is often mistaken for sinusitis. Many symptoms are the same, including headache, runny nose and nasal congestion. Acute sinusitis can be triggered by a cold or allergies and usually lasts three to eight weeks. A sinus infection lasting longer than eight weeks is considered chronic sinusitis and is often caused by a bacterial infection.

Sinus Infection symptoms include headache, tenderness of the face, runny nose, pain in the teeth, and nasal congestion. Unlike a cold, sinusitis symptoms may be caused by bacterial infections and often require antibiotics.

Sinus Infection Treatment

Acute sinusitis usually doesn't require treatment beyond relieving the symptoms with nasal decongestants, saline rinses, and pain medications. Chronic sinusitis may require antibiotics. By stopping a sinus infection early, you avoid later symptoms and possible complications.

There is no need to be sniffling, sneezing or suffer with a headache. Don't let your allergies or hay fever prevent you from enjoying the beautiful spring weather.
