Jan. 19, 2016 - PRLog -- Ivor Davis whose book, The Beatles and Me On Tour, was recently awarded the Book Publicists of Southern California Irwin Award in the “Best Entertainment Book” category will be one of two Featured Authors at the new Cleveland, MS GRAMMY Museum’s first Beatles Symposium. Set for 1-2 April 2016, The GRAMMY Museum Mississippi’s Symposium, entitled “From Cavern to Candlestick” will consider the impactful careers of The Beatles during the busy years they were involved in touring and giving live performances.

Ivor Davis was right there for much of that experience. Through 34 days and 24 cities in 1964, Davis traveled with The Beatles watching them make rock history. He enjoyed unrestricted access to the four boys fresh from Liverpool—from their hotel suites to backstage at concert arenas to their private jet. He fended off excited girls and their insistent mothers. Ivor played all night games of Monopoly with John Lennon, became the ghostwriter of a newspaper column for George Harrison, and witnessed the night Bob Dylan “deflowered” the young marijuana virgins.

In his book, The Beatles and Me on Tour, Davis recounts in frank and amusing fashion, the rip-roaring adventures of the most legendary band at a critical moment in the history of rock ‘n’ roll.  The book recreates a world long gone but not forgotten, especially for the hundreds of thousands of girls who spent a summer night 50 years ago screaming for their dream, The Beatles.

The Beatles and Me on Tour is a singular book. It has also won the IPPY Award for “Best Memoir” for the Independent Book Publishers association because it presents the first chronicle of that tour told by an insider: Ivor Davis, then a young reporter for the London Daily Express. He was the only British newspaper writer invited on the entire Beatles North American tour in 1964 and several years later, he was one of the very few journalists present when The Beatles met Elvis, face-to-face.

Ivor will be sharing his witty, colorful, and exciting memories of those days on Friday night, 1 April, 2016 as the keynote speaker for the new GRAMMY Museum MIssissippi’s Beatles Symposium. He will be preceded by a multi-media presentation by John Lennon expert, Jude Southerland Kessler, who will set the stage for Ivor by bringing to life the hectic events of 1964. Then Ivor will take guests back to the crazy haze of Beatlemania.

On Saturday, 2 April, Davis will be available to meet and chat with Beatles fans, to answer their questions, and to autograph his books at the Grammy Museum in Cleveland, MS. He will be available from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. At 4:30 p.m. Ivor will introduce the wonderful family film Good Ol’ Freda about his friend, Freda Kelly, who was the beloved Beatles Fan Club Secretary.
