The Naples Players Present "The 39 Steps"

NAPLES, Fla. - Jan. 13, 2016 - PRLog -- NAPLES, FL- The Naples Players (http://naplesplayers.org/home.html) will present The 39 Steps (http://naplesplayers.org/show9.html), a spy thriller comedybased on the1935 film (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_39_Steps_(1935_film) by Alfred Hitchcock (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alfred_Hitchcock) and adapted by Patrick Barlow (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Barlow), February 3^rd  – 27^th  in the Tobye Studio at Sugden Community Theatre in downtown Naples.  Dallas Dunnagan, TNP’s artistic director, will direct.

In this 2008 Tony-award nominee for best play, debonair Richard Hannay is bored with life when he meets a mysterious female spy.  When she ends up murdered in his apartment, he becomes the sole suspect and is launched into a mad-cap adventure in this fast-paced farce that has over 150 campy characters played by just five actors.

Michael Santos stars as the hero, Richard Hannay. Santos most recently performed the role of Michael in God of Carnage, as well as having played several different characters in The Mystery of Irma Vep.   He is also co-director of and performs regularly in Stage 2 Improv productions at the theatre.

JamieLynn Bucci plays the multiple roles of Pamela, Margaret and Annabella, the three women with whom Hannay has romantic entanglements. Bucci was last seen in TNP’s summer production of Legally Blonde the Musical as Pilar.  She is also a member of the Stage 2 Improv troupe.

Performing every other role in the play, including heroes, villains, men and women are Victor Caroli, John Hardisty and Robert Ball.  Caroli is a classically trained actor and a retired member of Actor’s Equity who has performed professionally in dinner theatre, off- Broadway and in regional theatre.  Previous Naples Players productions include a starring role in last April’s production of The Last Romance as widower Ralph Bellini, Watson in Sherlock Holmes, the Final Adventure and Hank Hadley in Regrets Only.

This is John Hardisty’s first time performing with The Naples Players.  Hardisty studied at The New York Film Academy and works regularly on film projects in Los Angeles.  This is Robert Ball’s first time with The Players as well.  Ball is no newcomer to the stage however, having performed in theatre in Toronto for the last fifteen years. His most recent performance was in the play Moorie with the New Market Theatre in Toronto.

Performances are Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $30 for adults and $10 for students 21 and under, and can be purchased at the box office, with credit card by calling 239-263-7990, or online at www.naplesplayers.org.
