BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Dec. 23, 2015 - PRLog -- Bonita Springs FL— The communities of Highland Woods Country County Club and Village Walk in Bonita Springs recently conducted toy drives within their respective communities, collecting and donating hundreds of toys to Bonita Springs Assistance Office (http://www.bonitaassistance.org/) (BSAO).  The toys were distributed by BSAO to families in need this holiday season.

“The residents of both Highland Woods and Village Walk have been extremely generous in supporting us,” said Teri Lamaine, Executive Director of BSAO.  “Every year we know we can count on them so that children in our community have a new toy or gift to enjoy at Christmas time.  These are children who otherwise would have little to nothing, so it makes a big difference in their little lives.”

In addition, Stockings For Kids, a local not for profit organization headed by Lee Knapp, supplied 150 toy filled stockings to the Assistance Office.  “This is something new for us this year and we welcome the addition of these stockings that will put more smiles on the faces of the kids,” said Lamaine.

Bonita Springs Assistance Office, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, has served the greater Bonita Springs, FL area since 1979. BSAO’s goal is to help ordinary people who have encountered a temporary financial hardship, pay for expenses such as rent, mortgage, utilities, clothing, food, or health needs. The goal is to foster independence and self-reliance through education and by bridging the financial needs of the recipients.

BSAO was the first agency in South Lee County to offer the most complete Choice Food Pantry, allowing families and individuals do their own grocery selection according to their needs, eating habits and health conditions. The pantry provides canned food, fresh produce, dairy, baked items, frozen meats, and toiletries and diapers. BSAO also partners with United Way of Lee County and Harry Chapin Food Bank to organize monthly food distributions via mobile pantries during the summer months.

In addition to the food pantry, BSAO provides money management classes and referrals to other social service organizations who may be better served in answering the client’s needs.
