MIAMI - Dec. 18, 2015 - PRLog -- MCSS Self Storage LLC (“MCSS”) is closing out a successful 2015 with three groundbreakings for self-storage facilities in South Florida. The urban infill facilities will create a combined 300,000 net rentable square feet in Brickell, Coconut Grove and Sweetwater.

“We are thrilled to break ground in three different locations for our facilities before the end of the year,” said Jay Massirman, managing director at MCSS. “With these new facilities under construction, we are positioning MCSS for continued growth and expansion in 2016.”

The recent ceremonial groundbreakings included:

• An 80,000 square foot facility located at 2434 SW 28th Lane (on the north side near Coconut Grove) on Dec. 9. The eight-story development was financed by TD Bank.

• A 100,000 square foot Sweetwater facility on Dec. 1. The five-story parcel is located at the corner of SW 6th and 137th Avenue was financed by PNC Bank.

• The “Off Brickell” parcel located on 270 SW 11th St. broke ground Dec. 16. This eight-story, 111,600 square foot project was financed by PNC Bank.

All of the facilities consist of approximately 1,000 units and will include clean, safe and secure storage with leading edge technology, architectural design and customer friendly features and will be managed by a national self-storage REIT.

Self-storage is a growing industry that generated $24 billion in revenues in 2013, according to the Self-Storage Association (SSA) and is forecast to reach $30 billion in revenues by 2019, according to IBIS World. The market is made up of a handful of large companies plus 30,000 single-facility entrepreneurs. Driving the traditional demand for self-storage across the U.S. are the four Ds: death, divorce, disaster and dislocation. In addition, the country’s accumulation of things is outpacing consumer’s capacity to keep items in their homes, as the growth of mini-warehouses also attests.

MCSS Self Storage LLC is a joint venture among real estate industry veterans Jay Massirman, Stephen Garchik, Steve McBride and consultant David Blum to develop and asset manage urban infill self-storage facilities within densely populated locations in South Florida. MCSS sources unique development sites through its internal and external resources, and applies its expertise in land use and development to create premier storage environments. They are actively pursuing new development opportunities. For more information, visit www.mcssdev.com.
