By: Unite Greater Dallas What: Discussion of coordinated Church response to largest humanitarian crisis since WWII When: Tuesday, November 17, 2015; presentation begins at noon Where: Fellowship Bible Church Dallas, 9330 N. Central Expressway, Dallas, 75231 Why: Working together, we can help refugees begin to heal and walk alongside them as they become contributing members of our community Dallas, TX Church leaders and members from across Greater Dallas are coming together to discuss the refugee situation. The main purposes of the meeting are: · ○ To calm fears that might be heightened due to the Paris attacks. · ○ To tell the churches what they can do to be most helpful to refugees. · ○ And to discuss how we can all work together to make the biggest positive impact possible. Speakers include a representative from one of our 3 local resettlement agencies who will explain the refugee resettlement process. These facts will be our best defense against the understandable fear our community is feeling and will be extremely educational for public officials and media. The impact of the attacks on national and international resettlement timelines and procedures is obviously unfolding now, but DFW is already the largest recipient of refugees in the country. Working together, we can help these refugees (no matter where they’re from) begin to heal from the immense trauma they have suffered and empower them to become well-adjusted members of our communities. ##### About Unite Started in 2009 by Rebecca Walls, Unite helps churches understand the most critical needs of Greater Dallas and work together with nonprofits, city government, schools, and others to address them.
