Fall Florida AutoFest to host a two-day Car ShowA Portion of the Proceeds to Benefit a Tampa Bay Area Charity
By: Carlisle Events The show runs November 14-15 and not only is it open to owners of all types of classic cars, its price point offers great bang for the buck AND helps a local charity; Mason Dixon’s Christmas Wish Fund. First, the car show: Showgoers can showcase their prized ride as part of a two-day classic and collector car show. This show invites car owners and vehicles of all makes, models, styles and eras to participate. Showing grants the car owner AND a guest access for the entire four-day Fall AutoFest event, plus participants are eligible for an award too. The cost to show is just $35 with pre-registration available via the Carlisle Events web page. The first 500 registrations get a dash plaque and while the car show and event entertainment doesn’t commence until Saturday, Thursday and Friday host a swap meet and car corral, while Friday is day one of the two-day collector car auction. Saturday morning also hosts another show (separate registration required), the popular Cars and Coffee event; presented by the DuPont Registry (8 a.m. to 12 p.m.). So in addition to showing and checking out those cars, owners and guests alike can check out all the other activities that Fall AutoFest has to offer. Second, the charity: As part of the Carlisle Events/Team Shelby car show on Saturday and Sunday, $1.05 of every $35 registration goes to Mason Dixon’s Christmas Wish Fund. Dixon is the long time morning man at Tampa Bay’s Q105 and for over 10 years, he’s been involved with the Christmas Wish. The wish isn’t just a holiday season venture, it’s a year-long initiative designed to help those in need during the holiday season. Annual events include golf tournaments, car shows and more. One of the biggest shows on the season calendar is the annual Christmas Wish Best of the Best Car Show; taking place November 1 at Bright House Field in Clearwater, spring training home of the Philadelphia Phillies and regular season home of the Florida State League’s Clearwater Threshers. “My wife Pat and I, plus a dedicated group of volunteers started the Mason Dixon Christmas Wish Fund almost 20 years ago and we have raised and donated back to the community almost $2 million since,” said Dixon. “Our goal is to give families struggling at not only the Holiday Season but all year, a little breathing room to buy gifts and in some cases just put food on the table for the family. We are an all-volunteer 501 C3 charity and the Christmas Wish Fund is our way of giving back to a community that has been so good to us for almost 40 years,” continued Dixon.
