Yours Humanly 5K Run/Walk To Benefit Girls' Education, Oct 18, Heather Farm Park

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Sept. 23, 2015 - PRLog -- Assemblywoman Catharine Baker is the guest speaker on Sunday, October 18, at a 5K Run/Walk & 1K Kids' Fun Run at Heather Farm Park, Walnut Creek, sponsored by Yours Humanly, a nonprofit that provides access to education for underserved children here and around the world.

Designed for seasoned athletes and casual walkers—all ages and skill levels alike—the family event runs from 8am to noon, and encourages kids and grown-ups to get outside for a morning of fun, exercise, and fresh autumn air. Every run/walk participant will receive a custom-designed T-shirt and medal, and 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each age category will receive additional prizes handed out by Assemblywoman Baker.

More than 57 million primary school-age children worldwide do not have the means to enroll in their local schools. According to UNICEF, despite progress in recent years, girls continue to suffer the severest disadvantage and exclusion in education systems throughout their lives. Yours Humanly funds both domestic and international efforts to provide education for all, and proceeds from this event will provide educational support for 50 girls, nationally and around the world.

Parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles are encouraged to register their children and the young people in their lives for the Yours Humanly 1K Kids' Fun Run, led by kid favorite Chuck E. Cheese, to give them an opportunity to contribute to the health and well being of children less fortunate. Yours Humanly believes even kids have the power to empower!
