ROCHESTER, NY - Jake Arrieta, pitcher for Major League Baseball's Chicago Cubs has been named the Hickok Belt(R) Award winner for the month of August 2015. Voting was conducted by a select panel of members of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association (NSSA). The voters selected Arrieta based on his phenomenal performance on the mound, including a no-hitter against the Los Angeles Dodgers. For the month, Arrieta posted a 6-0 record and a 0.43 ERA, improving his record to 17-6 on the year.

Other finalists for the month of August in order of how the NSSA voters ranked them included: Jason Day (golf), Usain Bolt (track and field), Edwin Encarnacion (baseball), Katie Ledecky (swimming), Matt Kenseth (auto racing), Inbee Park (golf), Javier Castellano (horse racing), Joey Logano (auto racing), and Andy Murray (tennis).

His selection as the Hickok Belt(R) Award winner for the month of August 2015 recognizes Arrieta as "the best of the best" in professional sports for the month and makes him the seventh candidate eligible to receive the overall Hickok Belt(R) Award for 2015, joining Tom Brady, James Harden, Jordan Spieth, Bryce Harper, LeBron James and Carli Lloyd.
