Sept. 1, 2015 - PRLog -- Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Neil Peck, of counsel in the firm’s Denver office, has been elected Chair of the Colorado State Personnel Board. Peck was appointed to the Board by Governor John Hickenlooper in 2013.

Governor Hickenlooper is the fourth Colorado governor to appoint Peck to a state board or commission. Former Governor Richard Lamm appointed Peck to the Colorado Lottery Commission, which he served as its first chairman, and former Governors Bill Owens and Bill Ritter each appointed Peck to the Colorado Council on Creative Industries.

The State Personnel Board is mandated by the Colorado Constitution. The mission of the five-member Board is to resolve disputes between state employees and agencies involving claims of discrimination or whistle-blower retaliation; to establish policies and rules for the State’s Department of Personnel Administration that protect and recognize merit as the basis for state employment while balancing management's need for discretion and flexibility; and to provide guidance in achieving and maintaining a sound, comprehensive and uniform system of human resource management through rules, decisions, communication and training.

“I am honored to serve Colorado as Chair of the State Personnel Board,” said Peck. “Snell & Wilmer has a long tradition of community and government service and I look forward to continuing to provide strategic guidance and counsel on key issues pertaining to the State’s personnel system.”

Peck currently serves as a member of the City and County of Denver Career Service Authority Board by appointment of Mayor Michael Hancock. This Board has a similar mandate to the State Personnel Board and is responsible for setting policy, considering appeals and making rule changes that enhance the work environment.

Peck’s practice is concentrated in complex civil and criminal litigation, including appeals, involving commercial, trade regulation, environmental, natural resources, white collar criminal defense and international issues. He represents major American and international corporate clients, including corporate officers, in complex civil and criminal business litigation matters involving issues such as accounting fraud, foreign corrupt practices, environmental, natural resources, antitrust and false advertising. Peck received his B.A. magna cum laude from Tufts University and his LL.B from Yale Law School.
