Those attending included many of the state’s entrepreneurs, authors, and business leaders and consultants. From coping with Post-Traumatic Stress (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) to overcoming employment hurdles, the members of Veterans Entering Transition (V.E.T.) and their supporters described the real-world challenges that they have encountered in transition and how V.E.T. addresses those challenges and eases the transition process. Discussed were the areas that V.E.T. provides assistance in: peer-mentoring, education, career management, legal & financial guidance, benefits, employment, spiritual guidance and health & wellness. All the services provides are at either no cost or reduced cost to the service members and their families. Sunita Shouse, Executive Director of V.E.T., explained the importance of raising awareness about the issues our service members face. “Our goal is to be coaches, mentors and advocates to help our service members achieve full emotional and professional societal reintegration. Supporting our nation’s heroes is not the nice thing to do. It is the smart thing to do.” Veterans Entering Transition (V.E.T) a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization was founded in 2015 by Anne Showalter. V.E.T.’s vision is to ensure that those who have served our nation in uniform transition into successful business leaders in every sector of American life. The organization is committed to providing exiting military, veterans and their family members with resources and education in workforce readiness and entrepreneurship to achieve financial stability and a sense of purpose. This mission is accomplished through a network of community and business partnerships who are dedicated to creating a unique pathway for the successful transitioning of veterans.
