| ![]() New Labeling Requirements on Footwear Components in TurkeyThe new labeling requirements on materials used in footwear components for sale to the consumer were published in the Turkish Official Journal No. 29337 on 25 April 2015.
Specifications of Textile Materials under Regulation No. 29337 According to Regulation No. 29337 (http://mevzuat.basbakanlik.gov.tr/ Textile Material Identification on Shoe Labels Footwear must be labeled with information relating to material content of the upper, the lining and insole sock and the outer-sole of the footwear article. The label must be legible, firmly secured and accessible. The permanent label must appear on at least one article of footwear in each pair. The information must be conveyed by means of approved pictograms or text as defined in Annex 1 and Annex 2 of the Regulations. Information provided on labels cannot be misleading to the consumers. The footwear label must provide information about the material which constitutes at least 80% of the surface area of upper and the lining and insole sock, and at least 80% of the volume of the outer-sole. If no single material accounts for at least 80%, information must be given on the two main materials used in the composition of the footwear. The size of label must be legible and visible and placed on the product in the place where the manufacturer deems appropriate.
