Wonderful Benefits of Physiotherapy

July 30, 2015 - PRLog -- Physiotherapy involves interaction between a Physiotherapist (also called a Physical Therapist or PT), their clients and the clients families, other medical professionals, and care givers where quality of life is assessed, diagnosed and goals are planned.

Physiotherapists are a group of medical professionals who diagnose and treat people of any age who have health-related conditions or injury or illness that affects their performance of daily activities. Physiotherapists are trained to gather a person's history, perform a physical exam and diagnose the issue to establish a plan of action for treatment.

The more modern form of Physiotherapy we know, was established in Britain near the end of the 19th century. Education qualifications vary by country, but many currently practicing in Ontario hold a Master's or Bachelor's of Physical Therapy degree.

A Physiotherapist is licensed and trained to examine, evaluate, diagnose and treat many types of impairments, functional limitations and disabilities in the general population. During the education process, the Physiotherapist learns ways to: screen the client to determine if Physiotherapy is required, examine the client by obtaining a health history from them according to the condition they present with, evaluate the information given during the examination to make a clinic judgement on the client, diagnose the condition to create a plan of care, collaborate with the client to determine a plan of care that serves, provide physiotherapy interventions to achieve the clients goals and outcomes; including therapeutic exercise, manual therapy techniques, functional training, and electrotherapeutic modalities, in addition to provide physiotherapy services for prevention and health promotion.

Physiotherapy Assistants may deliver treatment and intervention for clients under the plan of care established by and under the direction or supervision of the Physiotherapist. In the education process, Physiotherapy Assistants learn the anatomy and physiology, exercise physiology, human biology, physics, biomechanics, kinesiology, neuroscience, clinical pathology, and behavioural sciences associated in the Physiotherapy field.

Physiotherapy commonly includes prescription of specific exercises, manual therapy, manipulation and education so as to treat the diagnosed condition.

At PhysioMax Wellness, we focus more on Orthopedic Physiotherapy which includes disorders, injuries and after orthopedic surgery of the musculoskeletal system. Our Physiotherapists are trained to treat post-operative orthopedic procedures, fractures, sports injuries, arthritis, back and neck pain, strains or sprains, and spinal conditions. We use a variety of treatment methods including joint mobilization/manipulation, therapeutic exercise, dry needling, hot/cold packs and electrical muscle stimulation (TENS) to expediate recovery in an orthopedic setting.
