PRAGUE - July 7, 2015 - PRLog -- (7/7/2015 – Prague, Czech Republic) Marek Rosa, CEO of independent video game developer Keen Software House, has announced GoodAI, his new general artificial intelligence development company. Marek Rosa assembled a team of researchers and programmers to work towards the world’s first AI that functions with the skill and flexibility of a human brain. GoodAI plans to integrate their AI technology into Keen Software House video games in the coming months, but expects that in the long term the GoodAI brain will be universally applicable and will advance fields as diverse as scientific research, medicine, manufacturing, space travel, and more. Rosa is committed to developing AI safely and has personally invested $10M USD in the project.

"Quitting has never been an option for me,” added Rosa when asked about the risks of investing his own money into the business. “The potential here is immense. Doing nothing would be a much greater risk than taking a chance with the project, and we’ve already seen results."

GoodAI has one distinct advantage over most companies in the AI field. The GoodAI brain will be general and universal, meaning that in future stages the same brain software could be implemented in every context and industry. While some AI companies are making driverless cars or facial recognition software, GoodAI is working toward one brain that can do any task put in front of it. The general AI might drive smart cars, or take the form of a personal assistant, colleague, rescue robot, or space explorer.

I’m really proud of what we’ve been able to do since we began research and development in January 2014,” said Rosa, elaborating on the progress of GoodAI. “We developed an AI brain that can play certain games just by seeing pixels on the screen and responding to motivation signals. We built a brain that can learn and plan, and we did that in very little time and with a lot less funding than even the major companies pursuing AI."

GoodAI plans to draw from a pool of programmers and scientists in the Czech Republic, Europe, and around the globe, doubling or tripling in size over the next several years. The team is currently nearing 30 people.

GoodAI released its first product this month: Brain Simulator, the team’s collaborative platform where researchers can build and share AI brain modules that that can operate as various capacities of the human brain (e.g. visual, speech, tactile capabilities, and so on). Marek Rosa decided to release the artificial intelligence modules for this platform to the public for free under an open source, non-commercial license in order to support collaborative efforts from the community.

About GoodAI: GoodAI is a team of nearly 30 researchers and programmers, led by CEO Marek Rosa, pursuing R&D in the field of general artificial intelligence. We aim to create a truly general AI brain – one which operates at the level of a human brain and can adapt and learn any new task.

GoodAI has released Brain Simulator, a collaborative platform where researchers, developers, and tech companies can prototype artificial brains, share knowledge, and exchange feedback. Artificial intelligence modules designed by GoodAI are accessible to the public on this platform under an open source, non-commercial license at no cost. GoodAI follows and promotes the principles of safe general AI. GoodAI began research and development in January 2014 and is a sister company of Keen Software House.
