New Newsletter for contributors who desire to be guest experts on talk radio

Author and contributor - and frequent talk radio guest - John Longenecker has begun to train other contributors in how to be super guests on mainstream talk radio shows. He reaches additional interested prospects through his newsletter.

LOS ANGELES - July 5, 2015 - PRLog -- As an author and news analyst, John was invited to comment on talk shows booked for everything between fifteen minute segments to three-hour appearances. After doing hundreds of shows, he saw not only the opportunity for fellow print contributors and bloggers to expand their reach, but to improve their quality when they first start out and thereafter.

“Blogging can showcase some valuable content, but posting articles remains an unchallenged field largely; it's one-way. Experts who accept challenge live and respond live in a two-way or even three-way medium can defend their thesis fabulously to be even better received than what is self-evident in their content,” says Longenecker. “This rite of fire,” he says, “teaches more, becomes immortal in podcasts, and builds your brand better outside your beat and following.”

Talk radio's reach in what Longenecker terms the 'light speed comparing of notes' - when listeners learn real-time during broadcasts and create active buzz afterward - gives an expert a new bona fide credential of a sort. More than name recognition and following, the guest expert who defends her thesis live so well reaches further than that, Longenecker points out.

Longenecker coaches contributors to be articulate and compelling guest experts under the pressure of three sides; the host, the callers and the clock, any combination of whom can be friend or foe. The days of deflecting are over, especially already in the new 2016 election season. The task now is to be able to defend your thesis come what may; the key is to practice, to drill, to be corrected, to be put through the wringer privately to sound superb publicly.

"Being a compelling writer does not automatically translate into being a good guest on live radio. The pace is faster, less forgiving, it is largely in the control of others and frequently interrupted with challenges, at times very powerful, compelling challenges,” Longenecker adds.

But, a few weeks of coaching and media training can groom the print expert to be their best consultant / spokesperson on their own topic. Average time: about two weeks, two hours daily. The Newsletter reaches others in various stages of professional work, some new, some veteran, some looking for refresher, some looking to network.

The Newsletter is published by Contrast Media and distributed by Constant Contact. Subscription is free.
