Gigastrand Drops Apple Support

Gigastrand discontinues its support for Apple software and devices for what it calls “complete disregard for the end-user”.
 
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - July 3, 2015 - PRLog -- Until recently, Gigastrand rarely shied away from any technology challenges, however, challenges supporting Apple products have led Gigastrand to drop support for their entire line.

“Gigastrand International has made a point of supporting all end-user devices and software while remaining free from many of the proprietary devices and software others use,” founder of Gigastrand, Josh Tordsen explains. “However, support issues, security issues, poor device specifications, complaints from customers, and a company-wide commitment to making products so proprietary they become nearly impossible to repair has forced us to drop all of our Apple support.”

Gigastrand’s focus has been on Linux for nearly a decade. Since 2006, advocating Linux use and integration has been contrary to some of the support services it has provided to customers. While primary and direct Apple support has been discontinued, Tordsen acknowledges some secondary support services must remain in effect.

“We will still help with backup, migration, and software support for things like software for DVRs, but device and direct system support is out.”
