Online Registration Underway for 11th Annual "Turkey Day Dash" 5K Run/Walk

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - June 30, 2015 - PRLog -- Online registration is now open for the Conejo Valley YMCA’s 11th Annual Turkey Day Dash, held Thanksgiving morning, Thursday, November 26. The annual Thanksgiving Day 5K run/walk and 1K family fun run/walk starts at California Lutheran University (60 West Olsen Rd., Thousand Oaks). The 1K fun run/walk begins at 7:30 a.m. The 5K run/walk begins at 8:00 a.m.

         One of the largest athletic events in the Conejo Valley, more than 3,000 runners and walkers take part in the event each year. Proceeds from Turkey Day Dash go towards providing financial assistance for youth, families and seniors so they can take part in YMCA programs. “The event encompasses the Thanksgiving spirit of giving,” says Rochelle Callis, the Conejo Y’s executive director. “It’s now become a tradition for families throughout the Conejo Valley and a wonderful way to start the holiday season.”

         All ages and abilities can participate. Professional timing is available for 5K runners. Jogging strollers are welcome but must begin the run at the end of the starting line. No pets are allowed. Free t-shirts will be provided to participants while supplies last.

         Online registration will be available through November 22. The entry fee is $35 for individuals and $75 for families (immediate family only—up to six people). In-person and event day registration will be available after November 22, but at higher entry fees.
