MyLocalGuru App Aims To Boost North West Tourism

NANTWICH, U.K. - June 12, 2015 - PRLog -- MyLocalGuru the Cheshire-based husband and wife start-up business, created to promote local tourism and keep it local, has just released a new version for use across more than sixty North West towns and cities.

Their ground-breaking approach means that all towns in the region can share one App, which rebrands to that of the location of the visitor, wherever he or she may be.

“If you are visiting Knutsford for example, the App automatically rebrands itself as a Knutsford App and searches the Internet for local information,” explained Director Ian Birchall speaking from his home in Nantwich.

“Unlike many apps that only have a limited number of paid-for entries for attractions and restaurants, MyLocalGuru is a rich comprehensive source of local knowledge. Of course it has the usual lists of attractions, local restaurants, pubs and hotels but it adds hygiene ratings, local crime statistics, directions and even views from the street.

“It doesn’t stop there as it can help to find a parking space, a bus stop, a train station and even when the next bus or train is due. Need to find a live music or local event? Well of course it has them too!”

“MyLocalGuru has even gone further with Nantwich and added everything from where the public toilets are, to Wi-Fi hotspots and ATMs,” added Mr Birchall’s wife and business partner Amanda. “We are also supporting the up-coming Nantwich Food festival by including venues, exhibitors, food halls and alerts for when events are starting or children need their mum.”

The team at MyLocalGuru is now looking for local groups to partner with to help drive tourism and buy local. So if you are a BID team, a tourism officer or local retailers group, you can help customise the App for your area for free and even send out community messages.

Businessman Steve Birchall, owner of popular tourist attraction Cheshire Falconry near Northwich, and no relation to Ian and Amanda, applauded the arrival of the new free App. He said:” Anything which helps potential customers easily find us is a good thing.

“Despite the arrival of Sat Navs people still get themselves lost and that has a negative impact on any business. Using technology like that behind MyLocalGuru will be welcomed by traders of all sizes.”

Towns and cities being targetted by MyLocalGuru include Manchester, Liverpool, Bolton, Clitheroe, Morecambe, Southport, Salford and Wigan.
