Roberts The purported object for combining some Lessons into one is to maximize the informational impact of this 2-week crash course to the benefit of the private homeowners and homerenters who will participate. Requirements & Tentative Crash Course Syllabus for Better Resident - Contractor Relations Beginning June 8, 2015 Requirements Non-Mandatory Requirements *No online/offline registration unless residents would like to take the test at the end of the course *No age requirements (although the expectation is for adult private home decision-makers) *No mandatory fees *No mandatory class attendance (it is an online course) Mandatory Requirements 1. Internet access using systems accommodating: a. monitors which are 12 inches or more in diameter b. compatible accessories with hard copy print-out capability 2. hard copy note pad 3. pen or pencil 4. Readiness, willingness, and ability to take the course seriously mastering everything Tentative Syllabus for Crash Course - (June 8- 29, 2015) Monday June 8, 2015 Lesson 1: Stop, Look, & Listen Emphasis is on stopping long enough to really take a good look at the situation, and listening to one’s “inner voice” to assess various probabilities (good or bad) Tuesday 06-09 Lesson 2: Planning Since planning is the most rudimentary aspect for successful home projects, its significance is briefly addressed here in relation to four basic factors: Hesitancy, Insight, Wisdom, and Foresight. Wednesday 06-10 Lesson 3: Delegating There are two distinct forms of delegating considered here. Both are presented as immensely vital aspects to the success or failure of home projects. Thursday 06-11 Lesson 4: Scouting & Selecting Entails encouragement to expand your horizons, considering several contractors who can do the same things and establishing a solid contact list of candidates; and Selecting is more or less the complement to your researching several contractors, yet differs in that there are recommendations for selecting from among the “cream of the crop” then making a decision based on a specific formula Friday 06-12 Lesson 5: Hiring - Part 1(extra day added on)) In this portion, you have sifted out the best candidates, a few extra tidbits are offered as insurance for making the best hiring decision. Saturday 06-13 Lesson 5: Hiring - Part 2 (Premise the same, more details) ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ Monday June 15, 2015 Lesson 6: Monitoring & Coordinating In Monitoring, a differentiation is made between “monitoring” Tuesday 06-16 Lesson 7: Pay-outs & Purchases (Part 1) Differences between “pay-outs” Wednesday 06-17 Lesson 7: Pay-out & Purchases (Part 2) (Updated 06/03/2015) In Part 1 of this Lesson (7), we really dug in pretty deep , especially about the fallacy and over-simplification of "all else" as just "Materials." Thursday 06-18 Lesson 8: Firing The saying “I really don’t want to fire people” is turned into stubble in this presentation. Residents are motivated to toughen up and to always be ready to do this when there is probable cause. For example: obvious breach. Friday 06-19 Lesson 9: Settling Although no one initially things there may be probable cause for reaching an out-of-court settlement, this lesson demonstrates how these can become very high probabilities. You are presented with reasons where it becomes the best option. (Off Monday June 20 thru Sunday June 27, 2015) Monday June 28, 2015 General Review All lessons are briefly rehashed in preparation for the official end of this first run of “Protocol & Performance.” Tuesday June 29, 2015 Summary Statement This entails commentary and any acknowledgements relative to the state of home maintenance and improvement policy in the U.S.A., today.
