By: GOAL SYSTEMS Since Brazil won the organization of the World Cup of 2014 and Rio the Olympic Games of 2016, the city has undertaken very important changes of its public transportation, promoting the BRT (lanes for high capacity buses), which is already changing the transport network, with more than 9 million passengers monthly. The opening of TransOeste in 2012 and of TransCarioca in 2014, shortly before the World Cup, have confirmed the modernization of the public transportation of Rio de Janeiro, updating not only the vehicles and infrastructures, but also the investments in the most innovative technology. The numbers of both lines are similar to the main lines of Transmilenio (Bogota), which has also chosen Goal Systems to manage its planning. In March, the Rio de Janeiro’s BRT system communicated Goal Systems its decision to negotiate with the winning team of the process opened last year, in which the company competed with international planning systems. Since end of March, Goal Systems plans all the buses of the company and expects to plan also the expansions for the Olympic Games, TransOlimpica and TransBrasil. This project confirms Goal Systems as undisputed international leader in transport planning systems in Brazil. www.goalsystems.com End
