Splitzee Adds 100 Teams, 1000 Users in 40 Days

BOSTON - May 4, 2015 - PRLog -- In just over six weeks, 100 teams totaling 1,000 players started their outdoor recreational sports seasons with Boston Ski & Sports Cub (BSSC) by using Splitzee to collect and manage team money.  With Splitzee, team captains can accept money from teammates online with credit cards or PayPal, track checks and cash contributions, and send reminders - something they otherwise would have had to do the old fashioned way.

BSSC moved quickly to introduce Splitzee to team captains who collect shares from teammates. “Captains are the heart and soul of our organization, and it was clear that Splitzee would take some of the work out of play for them. That means more time to enjoy the team rather than manage the finances, increased player satisfaction, and more teams returning for multiple seasons,” says BSSC General Manager Sharon Brigham. “We partnered with Splitzee to give team captains peace of mind -- and wallet!”

The BSSC partnership with Splitzee launched in mid-March. The 100 new teams, with 8-12 players each, are led by captains who are happy to have options, and happier to avoid the hassles of chasing teammates for money.  Dara Gay, captain of Goal Diggers, a long-time BSSC soccer team, says “It really is so much easier not having to go to the bank every day to deposit everyone's checks! And having money before my credit card payment is due is new, and really good!”

The Splitzee solution relieves much of the pain of being a team captain.  Collecting money becomes easy and paperless, a growing expectation of this demographic of young active professionals.  The reminders feature allows captains to avoid awkward conversations with delinquent teammates, and the payout feature allows a captain to pay back a teammate who chips in more than their fair share.

Splitzee president Michael Sattler, sees the fast acquisition of 100 new teams and 1,000 users as clear evidence the company is meeting a real and widespread need. “When I played third base for my company softball team we shared the cost of jerseys, gear, and pizza dinners,” Sattler noted. “But our team captain always ended up holding the bag - managing all the details and often shouldering the cost burden too. Sometimes money disagreements off the field trickled onto the field, which made things less fun.” Sattler points out that there are an estimated 500,000 recreational sports teams and 7.5 million players in the U.S., all experiencing the same problem.
