April 15, 2015 - PRLog -- This is the time you have been waiting for during the past 9 months, and you can't stop thinking about the second you will finally get to meet your baby, and hope that everything will go smooth in the delivery room. At times it may feel like your delivery date is forever away, and other times you might feel like it's just around the corner. This is a very special and emotional time, and it is what you have been preparing for, and once you feel some of the initial signs of labor cramps, contractions and pressure you might get the urge to grab your bag (which has been packed for weeks) and run to the hospital as soon as possible, but in most cases, that will result in you getting sent back home until the contractions come just a few minutes apart. A lot of women prefer having their early labor at home with their partner and family members. Here are a couple of suggestions on things to do while you're still at home:

1. Walk! Yes, that is if you can, and it is the absolute best thing to do at this time. In fact, many times they will make you walk at the hospital if you arrive early. Walking balances out your body, gets the blood pumping and lets the baby get in the best position possible. If you go for a walk, don't do it alone make sure somebody is with you, and even if it's just around the block it will benefit you at the time of early labor, make you feel better and maybe even ease the delivery process.

2. Aromatherapy. This is something that really works--you should pick out a scent that you really like a couple weeks before, for example--lavender, which has a calming effect, and have it available in case you need it. You can use aromatherapy in many different ways light candles and relax to the scent, take a nice bath, or maybe even have your spouse give you a gentle backrub using aromatherapy massage oil, remember everything should be aimed at making you the most comfortable and relaxed, and aromatherapy is a great tool to help relaxation.

3. Movies. Movies are a great way to distract yourself from early labor they help pass the time faster! We all have our favorites, and it should be something positive and happy or funny, nothing scary or depressing. It should be a movie that you remember forever, and years down the road you can tell your son or daughter that you were watching that movie right before they came into this world. Make sure you sit in a very comfortable position, prop extra pillows behind your lower back and put your feet up.

4. Play cards: Even if it's just the two of you - you can play some card games that are fun and not too extreme to where it would stress you out. If you have other family members there, this can be an activity that involves everyone, and there are many different games you can play from spades to gin, you don't even necessarily have to keep score just have fun with it and remember to stay comfortable where you are sitting. 5. Photo Albums. This can bring many positive memories and feelings. Many people don't have actual photo albums anymore everything is on the computer, but if you can just look through pictures of your life before the baby, maybe some old pictures of when you were younger, you are guaranteed to get some laughs and some very happy emotions out of it. Here you can also pop in a family video or slideshow, and you will be surrounded by people who love you and who care about you the most.

These are just a few suggestions, of course there are many other things you can do, depending on your preference and how good you are feeling. The worst thing to do is lay down and do nothing but think about the pain, that will not get you anywhere, it will just make it worse. This is your time, the people around you will make sure you are comfortable and content, and you will know when it is time to go. By that time, everything should be ready, from the car seat to the playlist on your ipod (http://www.mysiteview.org/d/www.ipod.com) you have had so much time to think everything through and prepare. Good luck!
