Lake Shore Ford Joins Team Sarah to Help Fight LeukemiaThe dealership is partnering with the City of Portage and Sarah Reeder to Fight leukemia.
By: Lake Shore Ford Lake Shore Ford and the City of Portage are trying to help Sarah Reeder by raising money to help find a suitable bone marrow donor and pay for the medical costs of her ongoing treatment. To help support the effort on behalf of Team Sarah, Lake Shore Ford will be donating $25 to the cause for each car sold from April 17 through April 23, 2015. Lake Shore Ford will also be accepting cash donations at its dealership, which is located at 244 Melton Rd. in Burns Harbor, IN. As part of the effort, both Lake Shore Ford and the City of Portage are encouraging everyone aged 18 to 44 to join the Bone Marrow Donor Registry. Most patients diagnosed with leukemia will eventually require a bone marrow transplant, and over two-thirds of patients don’t have an ideal match in their immediate family. Portage University will be hosting a signup for the registry on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from noon to 6 p.m. The university is located at 6260 Central Ave. in Portage, IN. The more donors are made available, the more likely it is that an ideal match will be found for Sarah Reeder, which will offer her tremendous help on the way to recovery. All it takes to test a potential donor’s suitability is a cheek swab, but it costs approximately $100 to process a tissue sample. For this reason, the Bone Marrow Donor Registry is accepting donations to cover the costs. In addition to helping people fight Leukemia, joining the Bone Marrow Donor Registry will help in the fight against sickle cell anemia and lymphoma. Lake Shore Ford is proud to help the cause of Team Sarah alongside the City of Portage, and welcomes inquiries from residents about how they can help. Photo: https://www.prlog.org/ End
