It should come as little surprise that the 2015 Ford F-150 took home the top spot in the full-size light-duty pickup world. After Ford announced a new aluminum construction and upgraded engines, the other automakers were stuck playing catch-up. This new pickup is the smartest, toughest, and most capable truck in the F-150's long and storied career, and this is the vehicle's second consecutive year topping its segment in the APEAL awards.
The Ford Expedition's award came in the “Large SUV” segment while the C-MAX dominated in the “Compact Multi-Person Vehicle” segment. J.D. Power's review of the Expedition includes praise for its recent upgrades, including the new Platinum trim level's luxurious amenities while the C-MAX's fuel economy and safety features caught the eye of J.D. Power's critics.
This is the 20th year of the J.D. Power APEAL study, and it has become the industry standard for measuring new vehicle appeal. The experts at J.D. Power base their rankings on how satisfying the vehicles are to drive and own, with results pulled directly from new owners, ranking across 77 different traits and combining them into a 1,000-point scale to compare across the auto industry.
J.D. Power said, “The APEAL Study is used extensively by manufacturers worldwide to help them design and develop more appealing vehicles and by consumers to help them in their purchase decisions.”
