By: Elsewhen Press If there were Alternate Realities, and in each there was a version of Earth (very similar, but perhaps significantly different in one particular regard, or divergent since one particular point in history), it is likely that many problems would be caused if someone, somewhere, worked out how to travel between them. Those problems would be ideal fodder for a News Service that could also span all the realities. Thus was born the Alternate Reality News Service (ARNS). Canadian satirist and author Ira Nayman has been the conduit for ARNS into our Reality for some years now, thanks to his website Les Pages aux Folles. Problems caused by unregulated travel between realities would not just be news, but a perfect justification to establish an Authority to oversee such travel and make sure that it is regulated. Jurisdictional issues between competing national agencies would be overshadowed by those caused by an Authority with jurisdiction across the realities in different dimensions. That is one of the challenges for their investigators and the source of much of the humour in Ira’s Transdimensional Authority novels. In Random Dingoes, investigators Noomi Rapier and Crash Chumley look into reports of a drug that allows people to travel between universes without technological assistance. They methodically work their way up the drug ring’s chain of command and are just about to arrest its leader when – time travel happens. With the assistance of Time Agency agent Radames Trafshanian, Noomi and Crash must navigate realities they hadn’t anticipated and which they definitely wouldn’t want to live in. Especially with random dingoes on the loose. Like the previous two novels in the series, Random Dingoes has a cover designed by New York artist Hannah B. Farrell. Random Dingoes is published today by Elsewhen Press in a digital edition in all popular eBook formats. It will be published in a paperback edition in the summer. Notes for Editors About Ira Nayman In his past lives, Ira Nayman was, among other things: a cave painter whose art was not appreciated in his lifetime; several nameless peasants who died before their 20th birthday during the Dark Ages; a toenail fungus specialist in the court of Louis XIV; and Alan Turing’s scullery maid. In his current incarnation, Ira is the creator of Les Pages aux Folles, a Web site of political and social satire that will be 13 years old in September (that’s positively Paleolithic in Internet time!). Five collections of Alternate Reality News Service (ARNS) stories, which originally appeared on the Web site, have been self-published in print. Ira has produced the pilot for a radio series based on stories from the first two ARNS books; “The Weight of Information, Episode One” can be heard on YouTube. Ira has also written a series of stories that take place in a universe where matter at all levels of organisation has become conscious. They feature Antonio Van der Whall, object psychologist. Ira’s Web Goddess tells him he should make more of the fact that he won the 2010 Jonathan Swift Satire Writing Contest. So, Ira won the 2010 Jonathan Swift Satire Writing Contest. In another life (but still within this incarnation) About Hannah B. Farrell Hannah Farrell is an American Artist currently studying animation at Minneapolis College of Art and Design. She is influenced heavily by French animator, Sylvain Chomet, who introduced her into the beautiful art of characters. Hannah is very playful with the bodies she creates and looks forward to the transition from still picture to moving picture. That being said, Hannah has been very happy as a freelance illustrator. She doesn’t know where her art career will go in the next few years, but she’s enjoyed it so far and is nothing but optimistic.
