Stock Dividend Yields Are Above Treasury Yields - And That's Bullish

Best Selling Author and Chief Advisor Matt Golab discusses stock dividends.

ELK GROVE, Calif. - March 30, 2015 - PRLog -- This is the title of an article that just came out exposing a rare occurrence in the market when stock yields are above treasury yields and this could be a great sign for stocks in 2015.

This signal might be showing it's a good time to buy stocks however, it's vitally important to note that this does not mean it will be smooth sailing. The deviation of stock yields to treasury yields has only occurred 4 times in the last 50 years. The Great Recession was the most recent time this has happened and it could be a buy signal for investors.

"Referencing data provided by Bespoke Investment Group ... these yield crossovers are very rare over the long term. It took the Great Recession in 2008, followed closely by a downgrade of the U.S.'s credit rating in 2011, to snap a 46-year streak where 10-year Treasury Yields were above the S&P 500 dividend yield".

Consumers are looking to many factors leading up to this drop in Treasury Yields most notably the incredible sell off in crude oil prices. Concerns about growth in China and Europe plus a stronger U.S. dollar are pushing investors into safety causing the Treasury yield to drop.

What is an investor to do in this type of a situation? The first is to realize that past performance is not an indication of future performance. However looking at the previous times this deviation has happened the one year return is above 30% according to Bespoke Investment Group.
