On Scriggler.com: Helter Shelter - A Series Of Articles On America's Growing Homeless Crisis

PORTLAND, Ore. - March 20, 2015 - PRLog -- Marshall, MO native and current Portland, Oregon resident Don J Baldwin is pleased to announce his investigative series titled: Helter Shelter - Americas Homeless Crisis premiering on www.portlandvibes.wordpress.com and Scriggler.com where two installments of the hard-hitting blog series have already posted.

"Widespread homelessness has grown reaching into even the smallest cities and towns across America," says Baldwin. "Behind every face you choose to render invisible and walk past is a human story . . . I am going to do whatever I can to tell those stories." Baldwin who was once homeless himself vividly recalls the sensations he experienced feeling his humanity and place among his fellow humans slowly slip away from him. "You feel yourself changing," he recalls. "You feel yourself changing in horrifying ways you never dreamed possible as the life and everything you were once connected to fades into the ugly, bleak reality you are now invisible, unwanted and not as good as everyone else."

Don who is an activist and a volunteer at local homeless shelters in Portland hopes Helter Shelter will help inspire more people to take action locally within their own community. "Everybody must do something in their own small way to help clean up this mess," Baldwin adamantly states. "You know when someone has been kidnapped or held hostage, one of the best tactics to save their lives is to publicly make them as human as possible. Captors will have a greater difficulty causing harm to someone whose humanity is elevated to prominence." It's this same tactic Baldwin seeks to employ in Helter Shelter. By bringing the situation closer to home and featuring the stories of other homeless people on the street, he hopes more people will be compelled to act.
