Trinity Christian Academy Honors Founder of the Student Tuition Aid Program Bill Millet

DALLAS - March 11, 2015 - PRLog -- Recently, Trinity Christian Academy (http://www.trinitychristian.org/page) (TCA) honored Bill Millet for 41 years of service as a long-standing member of the school’s board and founder of the Student Tuition Aid Program, which offers financial aid to qualified student families to offset the cost of tuition.  Nearly 100 guests gathered at III Forks Steakhouse in Dallas to celebrate Millet’s decades of service and to recognize past and present trustees and foundation board members.

“Mr. Millet has provided the Trinity community with many gifts, but the most extraordinary is his gift of leadership,” said Headmaster Dave Delph. “He has changed our community for the better by enriching the quality of students, faculty and facilities.”

Millet, who is fondly referred to as the “father of the Student Tuition Aid Program,” created the initiative in 1974 with just $1,850. Today, the program raises more than $1 million each year and helps more than 120 students receive the financial aid to attend TCA every year.  Since its inception, the Student Tuition Aid Program has financed more than 3,500 students, which equates to approximately $15 million in funds.

“It is a gratifying experience to be honored for implementing a program that has influenced and enriched so many young students’ lives,” said Bill Millet. “The Student Tuition Aid Program would not be what it is today without the help of my TCA family, and I look forward to seeing the program continue to grow.”

The Student Tuition Aid Program has played a prominent role in contributing to many successful professionals’ careers by providing the opportunity to receive a high-quality education. One example is Mark Layman, CEO of a well-known construction firm in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, who was recently profiled by the Dallas Morning News’ Cheryl Hall. According to Hall’s article, Layman was able to attend TCA thanks to the Student Tuition Aid Program and he attributes much of his success to Millet, who was a mentor and father figure for Layman growing up.

Millet’s family also provides a great contribution to TCA. His son, Jon, is currently the head of the art department and many of his grandchildren attend the school. Previously, his son, Brian, served as the varsity boys cross country coach and his daughter-in-law, Cindy, was a lower school computer teacher.
