Craftwing with Willow for Volunteers

EAST YORKSHIRE, U.K. - March 3, 2015 - PRLog -- Goldcrest House service users have fun at a Willow Workshop with environmental artist Shealagh Cynfal-Wells at Goole’s Oakhill Nature Reserve.

Learning how to create willow structures from the dried willow taken from the reserve was the order of the day as willow craft goers enjoyed making structures such as trellis.

Attending the workshop was a particularly special experience for two delegates, Mark Cullis and Mark Greeves, who volunteer at the nature reserve felling and controlling the spread of willow into the wetland.

Eileen Smale, activities coordinator at Goldcrest House says: “The workshop has been a fabulous experience for our service users, especially the ones that volunteer at Oakhill. They have seen the whole process; from harvesting, drying and packing, right through to sampling what this unique and flexible material can produce.”

Based on Boothferry Road Goldcrest House is a centre of excellence dedicated to addressing the individual needs of adults over 18 affected by Autistic Spectrum Disorder and learning difficulties.
