In addition, he received $10,000 spending money and $30,000 to help pay the federal withholding requirement for taxes. Mr. Dyer accepted the prize package at the award ceremony on Friday, February 6, 2015, in Clearwater, Florida. Earlier this year Mr. Dyer saw a commercial for one of the Dream Giveaway promotions on television and decided he would make a donation and take a shot at winning, “I decided to spread my money across all the giveaways. I saw some giveaways with cars [and] others with trips and I thought to myself it be nice to win any of them.” Mr. Dyer entered the 2014 Down Under Dream Giveaway on December 30, 2014, by making a $170 tax-deductible donation. The winner received the news that he won the 2014 Down Under Dream Giveaway via phone on Tuesday, January 20, 2015. “When I heard that I had won I couldn’t believe it,” Mr. Dyer said. “I contacted my mom and she couldn’t believe it either. I think we were all in disbelief.” As excited as Mr. Dyer was to be named the winner of the giveaway, he didn’t forget the causes his donation went to support, “Whenever I have the opportunity to donate to a good cause, especially when it involves children, I will,” Mr. Dyer said. During the award ceremony Mr. Dyer had something to say to the people who still don’t believe this is for real, “All you have to do is look at me,” Mr. Dyer said. “Everybody around me thought this wasn’t for real but I’m here looking at my beautiful new car.” New Beginning Children’s Homes (NBCH) is a 501(c) 3 provider of family-style long-term residential care with a mission to provide foster children a safe and faith-centered family atmosphere where they can heal, grow, and be loved while working through difficult life issues.
