Cowboy Bucket List Adventures To Host Authentic Cowboy Camping Weekends

Feb. 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Fish Camp, CA  – Cowboy Bucket List Adventures presented by Yosemite Trails, will hold three authentic cow gather and camping experiences in 2015.  These genuine cow gathering events will take place just south of Yosemite National Park June 26 - 28, July 10 - 12 and July 24 - 26, 2015.

This Cowboy Bucket List adventure is for cowboys and cowgirls who dream of waking up to a delicious cup of cowboy coffee, brewing over an open fire, at an authentic 100 year old cow camp. As the sun rises to spill warmth over the alpine meadow, participants will saddle up and head out to track cattle from the back of their own faithful horse.

The cowboys at Yosemite Trails, who have provided trail rides and pack trips into Yosemite National Park for three generations, invite fellow horse enthusiasts to bring their own mounts and try their hand at pushing and gathering cows.  No previous cow experience is necessary by either rider or their horse.  Riders need a good handle on their horse and to demonstrate that they are able to jog, lope, mount and dismount unaided.

“At Cowboy Bucket List adventures, participants will learn to track cattle in the mountains, check for signs of cattle in an area, and learn how to drive cattle slowly so they don’t stampede. We also share what we have learned about going into the back country, such as, horse first-aid in the wilderness and what to take on a pack trip,” said Michele Knapp-Stehly, Cowboy Bucket List Adventures director, and third generation packer.

In addition to the cattle herding and sorting activities, each participant will enjoy beautiful trail rides at elevations above 5000 feet. The highlight, is a morning trail ride to Nelder Grove, a stand of 2000 year old Giant Sequoia that are some of the most impressive trees on the planet. At the end of a full day, guests ride back to cow camp, where a camp cook prepares hearty meals in a Dutch oven.

Guests enjoy cowboy poetry, songs and camaraderie around the evening campfire. Sleeping under thousands of stars in the High Sierra sky, as coyotes howl across the meadow, promises to make memories that will last a lifetime.

Yosemite Trails is owned and operated by the Knapp family, who provide trail rides at the south entrance of Yosemite National Park and raise Lazy K Horses and cattle in the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra Nevada Mountains.
